Michael Castania

Mike is President and Founder of Offshore Race Management [ORM], a Project Management firm based in Delray Beach, Florida.

Although now based in the US, Mike was born in Australia and grew up in Sydney, graduating from the Guild Teachers College with a major in Psychology. He went on to Post Graduate studies at Sydney University in Languages [Modern Greek and French].

Sailing since his youth, he moved through the ranks to participate in events both domestically and around the globe. Eventually moving into skipper and then management positions where, he has established a respected reputation.

As head of ORM, he has worked with many design offices and boat yards across the globe. Has coached and raced with IRC teams and has managed complex and high profile projects including a VOR Team, new builds, refits and race programs in Thailand, the US, the UK, the Caribbean and Australasia.

Projects range from the classic 130' J Class "Endeavour" to High Profile Volvo Campaign to Youth Training Yachts to all carbon modern IRC classes. Which in 2008 sailed to a convincing 1st place overall podium finish in the 2008 Baltic Sprint Cup aboard "Danebury" Rogers 46 and was award the Top Skipper Award by the German Offshore Owners Association in 2008.

In 1999, as Campaign/Syndicate Director, he single handedly procured funding for Team sponsorship in the 2001 - 2002 Volvo Ocean Race, placing all the components in place and established Team Tyco. The Team went on to place 4th overall, with a measurable ROI for Team Sponsor Tyco, (A Fortune 500 Company). Notable projects include...
